Only the older generation will recognize this one. Beach-Head, published in 1983 by Access Software, is one of the tougher C64 games I have played back in the day. I was 8 or 9 when I first gave it a shot, so maybe that was part of the reason but even in my teenage years I still struggled to get to that final mega-bunker/fortress monstrosity at the end. Beach-Head was commercially successful back in the day, selling around quarter of a million copies, an excellent number for that era. Bruce Carver went on to also make Raid over Moscow one year later - another classic of 80s gaming history, and one that was equally hard (the hangar sequence still gives me PTSD). I think in terms of design and gameplay you can see how the 2 games are related, the vibe feels similar.

@Isabelletkrause What a moron. Gollum was given many chances for redemption by Tolkien. Definitely more than Samwise thought he should get, but time and time again Gollum chose evil over good.

Ah yes, Tolkien, who wrote The Lord of the Rings, which has sold over 150 million copies, and The Hobbit which has sold another 100 million (ranking them 2nd and 3rd respectively in top-selling novels of all time), who created over 14 distinct languages and alphabets for Middle-earth before writing his novels, who was fluent in Danish, Dutch, French, German, Gothic, Greek, Italian, Latin, Lombardic, Middle/Old English, Old Norse, Norwegian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, and Welsh, who, while serving in WWI, developed a secret code to update his wife about his location to bypass British army mail censorship, who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature….. Yes, surely, he is a weak thinker.
Alex Leone@AlexToropoc

@Isabelletkrause Tolkien is a weak thinker because he doesn't make room for redemption, thus, he is not a Christian. Look at Gollum - he sins, destroys his life, but where is the redemption, the need for god's absolution? None. A great thinker would've made Gollum the hero, to redeem himself.

@StirringDragon Feels like living in one. Quite different than California 😀 In the late Middle Ages, it was one of the biggest cities in the Holy Roman Empire - at less than 6000 citizens.

While nearby, this image does not show the city of Nürnberg. Who knows where this really is? Hint: Knights of Frontier Valley is being made there. (screenshot from "Darklands", a classic RPG from @micro_prose) #indiedev #gamedev #rpg

It looks like we recently passed the 30,000 wishlist mark. I still not entirely sure how this is happening but I'm so glad people seem to be interested and following the game! And thank you everyone here on X who continues to follow along. I've met so many awesome people here, it's been amazing!

Carved directly into the sandstone cliffs of southern Egypt, this colossal seated statue stands at the Great Temple of Abu Simbel, near the modern border with Sudan. The monument dates to the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BCE (c. 1279–1213 BCE), during the height of the New Kingdom. Sculpted from living rock, the figure depicts the king in divine stillness, wearing the royal nemes headdress and false beard, his hands resting calmly upon his knees. Behind and around him, walls of carved reliefs and hieroglyphic inscriptions proclaim military victories, royal lineage, and devotion to the gods. The sheer scale of the statue, towering above human visitors, was designed to project eternal power and divine authority. Standing before it today evokes a profound sense of awe—an encounter with ambition carved into stone, where time feels suspended between the ancient sun and the present sky.
