Zero trust is not "use a modern VPN." NIST SP 800-207 says there is no implicit trust from network location alone. So a request has to be judged by user, device, resource, and policy. Encryption protects packets. It does not decide who should reach prod.

This is the broken promise most people miss. A TEE can block the OS and still leave you dependent on a company you do not control. The vault may sit inside your computation, but the final proof that it is real reports to someone else.
