Let's put it this way I won't be visiting any beach here again. The amount of sewage that's purposely pumped into our waterways is scary. Especially given we are a very small Country. northern ireland water sewage dump    +4  Northern Ireland faces a severe water pollution crisis with over 20 million tonnes of untreated sewage and wastewater discharged into waterways annually from 2,444+ storm overflow pipes. Driven by decades of underfunded, outdated infrastructure and heavy rainfall, these spills affect rivers and Lough Neagh. The situation has led to "serious degradation" of areas like Belfast Lough and prompted investigations.  BBC +3 Key Aspects of the Sewage Situation Scale of Pollution: More than 20 million tonnes of untreated sewage are discharged into Northern Ireland's waterways annually. Frequency: Untreated waste, containing sewage and industrial effluent, is released through storm overflows over 24,500 times per year. Infrastructure Issues: Over 80% of storm overflows in Belfast are considered unsatisfactory. The system cannot handle heavy rainfall, resulting in overflow.
