Even referrals, which are extremely common in every industry, do not magically hand someone a job. Candidates still go through multiple interview rounds and must qualify for the position. Blanket claims that every immigrant has fake degrees or fake qualifications are deeply insulting, especially when millions of families, particularly in countries like India, place enormous importance on education and make tremendous sacrifices for their children’s future. But outrage is easier to sell than nuance. Edited clips spread faster than facts, and political narratives thrive when people stop asking deeper questions. These are the kind of clips that wins elections and betrays the everyday people that voted right or left. Social media snippets are not reality, no matter how many times people replay them.
