Why is the news of a US military aircraft being shot up everywhere today? Isn't it perfectly normal for some outdated, obsolete aircraft to get shot down? People need to realize that the real military capability of the US military and the story told by Western media exist in two different parallel universes. In this universe, the US military's actual capability is pretty mediocre. Even if Trump increases the defense budget to $1.5 trillion next year, I'd bet the actual military hardware they deliver will be less than half — or even a third — of China's. And they still won't have solved their rare earth problem. lol.

That’s falls in the Just Right scenario below. Likely won’t matter so 178K is the number that goes into the policy calculus. So this print lands in no man’s land. Hot enough to keep rate cut hopes on ice. Not scary enough to start hike talks. That could change if CPI prints hot on April 10th (it will). Markets don’t open until Monday on top of whatever the weekend delivers on the Iran chaos.
