How is automation not an option? Are you delusional? Automating tasks is literally the foundation of the modern world. The whole industrial revolution was about automation and it continues to be about automation. How is automation NOT and option when it’s all we’ve been doing for the last 2 centuries.? The kind of home automation needed to survive the pension wave already exists. It’s not robotic nurses or some other far off thing. It’s things like pain management pumps. Smoke detectors connected to emergency service. Stove guards, and even just speciality handles in places like bathrooms. It’s things that allow people to live at home indecently. rather then in an institution with 24 hour care just that little longer. This tech exists. When my grandpa was near his end this is exactly what we did. We took care of him at home. Where he wanted to stay. At little cost to the system. We got devices to make that possible and comfortable. And it worked. He got to stay home, which is what he wanted. We got to see him often. Which is what we wanted. And the system did not have to deal with finding him a spot in some care home far way at great expense. Instead just sending two nurses by for a checkup twice per day. Which is ideal for it. Again this isn’t far off tech. It exists right now l. It just needs to be implemented more intelligently and consistently.

Automation is THE ONLY option. We don’t have a choice.
