The world’s most neglected horror-story: Hundreds of thousands of Sudanese civilians in El Fasher, North Darfur, have now been bombarded, starved, and besieged for over 2 years. New and devastating attacks are ongoing. Indiscriminate shelling is destroying homes, hospitals, markets, water-supply, and electricity. Aid has for a long time been systematically blocked. Hundreds of people are reported to have died from thirst, and there are multiple reports of sexual violence and attacks against those fleeing. It is crucial that Gulf countries, neighbours, and others with influence over the fighting parties take concrete action to protect civilians in El Fasher. Silence now will only encourage further appalling violence.
