One thing that's become increasingly clear this year is that AI is no longer just a software story, it's becoming an infrastructure.
For a long time, I mainly focused on crypto, but now that stocks are available on @bitget via rTokens, I've been spending more time researching traditional equity markets as well.
What surprised me most is how interconnected the AI supply chain really is. Most people immediately think of NVIDIA when AI comes up and for good reason. Demand for AI compute continues to outpace expectations as hyperscalers and enterprises keep investing in new infrastructure.
But I think the more interesting question is: Where does that demand flow next?
The way I see it, the AI industry is moving through three layers.
1. Compute
Companies designing AI chips continue to benefit from massive infrastructure spending. NVIDIA and Broadcom remain at the center of that trend, although a lot of optimism is already reflected in valuations.
2. Memory
Every new generation of AI accelerators requires significantly more high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Recent commentary from SK hynix about potential memory shortages over the coming years highlights that memory could become one of the biggest bottlenecks as AI adoption scales.
If compute demand keeps growing, memory suppliers may become just as important as chip designers.
3. Manufacturing and Equipment
The third layer is where things get really interesting. Samsung accelerating its Yongin fab timeline suggests manufacturers are already preparing for much higher long-term AI demand. When foundries expand capacity, companies involved in semiconductor manufacturing and equipment often benefit alongside them.
Rather than viewing AI as a single-company trade, I'm starting to see it as an entire ecosystem. Compute drives memory demand. Memory shortages encourage new manufacturing capacity. New fabs create another investment cycle across the semiconductor industry.
Being able to access stocks through Bitget's rTokens has definitely made me spend more time researching these broader themes instead of only watching crypto markets. The biggest opportunities aren't always where everyone is already looking, they can appear further down the supply chain as the next stage of the AI buildout unfolds.
