Our new publication is online doi.org/10.1111/1365-2… Here's what we found: 1️⃣ Mowing in general significantly reduces arthropod numbers compared to unmown controls. 2️⃣Double-blade bar mowers, often considered "insect-friendly," were no better than conventional disc mowers.

#PhDposition in #biochemistry Apply for a PhD position in the Robert Hanus Group (Chemistry of Social Insects) @IOCBPrague @CzechAcademy, funded by the #MSCADoctoralNetwork 'ModBioTerp': uochb.cz/en/open-positi… The project "Evolution of Terpenoid Biosynthesis in Insects" is focused on the functional characterization of a set of insect terpene synthases from unrelated insect clades and defining their common and idiosyncratic structural features acquired during their multiple independent origins. Please note: Students coming from Czech universities are not eligible for this position.

Im #DZG2024 Public Talk erläuterte Sylvia Cremer, wie sich Insektenkolonien gesund halten. Neben dem Immunsystem der Einzeltiere schützt sich die Kolonie durch kollektive Hygiene, gegenseitige Pflege und #SocialDistancing zur Eindämmung von Krankheitsausbreitung #SozialeImmunität
