Oahu officials captured photos one week after the devastating flooding from the recent Kona low storm systems that hit Oahu. “This flyover provided a clear view of both the devastation this storm caused and the incredible work that is happening on the ground every day,” Mayor Rick Blangiardi said.

HPD EVACUATES THE HAWAIʻI STATE CAPITOL; ASKS PUBLIC TO AVOID SURROUNDING STREETS   On March 28, 2026, at approximately 9:50 a.m., Honolulu Police assisted state sheriffs with the evacuation of the Hawaiʻi State Capitol due to a possible bomb threat.   Punchbowl, Richards, Miller and Beretania Streets are currently closed near the Capitol.   The Hawaiʻi State Capitol was the location of a planned protest this morning. The state Department of Law Enforcement is moving participants to the ʻIolani Palace grounds until the validity of the bomb threat can be determined.   HPD is asking the public to avoid the area as the investigation is active.
