A&E attendance yesterday. Told the doctor I was autistic. "You don't look autistic" she said...
Autistic people look like everyone else, as autism is a neurological difference, not a physical appearance.

Activist: "A third of all crops grown globally are fed to livestock. That's obscene."
Farmer: "A significant portion of that is crop byproducts and materials that don't meet human food standards."
Activist: "Crops are crops."
Farmer: "The broken biscuits at the factory. The oilseed cake after pressing. The sugar beet pulp. The distillers' grain after whisky production."
Activist: "Still food."
Farmer: "Not food anyone is eating. It goes to landfill or it goes to cattle."
Activist: "Someone could eat it."
Farmer: "The biscuit that broke in the factory could have been a fine biscuit. It wasn't. My cattle are its retirement home."
Activist: "That can't be most of the figure."
Farmer: "It's a huge chunk of it. The figure is regularly presented without that context."
Activist: "Where did you read that."
Farmer: "I feed the cattle. I know what they eat."
Activist: "But still..."
Farmer: "The broken biscuits are their favourite, since you're asking."

Activist: "Wool is exploitation. I only wear synthetics."
Farmer: "Synthetics shed microplastics into the ocean."
Activist: "Still better than using an animal."
Farmer: "An animal that needs shearing regardless."
Activist: "You profit from it."
Farmer: "Barely. Wool prices have collapsed."
Activist: "Then stop producing it."
Farmer: "I shear them because they need shearing. The wool is what's left over."
Activist: "An exploitative byproduct."
Farmer: "A biodegradable, renewable byproduct of a necessary haircut."
Activist: "I still won't wear it."
Farmer: "The river would prefer you did."
Activist: "What does that mean?"
Farmer: "Microplastics."

Activist: "Every time a cow breathes out it's contributing to climate change."
Farmer: "That's not quite how it works."
Activist: "Cows emit CO2 when they breathe."
Farmer: "So do you."
Activist: "Not at the same volume."
Farmer: "The CO2 a cow breathes out came from the grass it ate, which came from the atmosphere."
Activist: "It's still adding to the carbon in the air."
Farmer: "It's returning carbon that was already in the air. Via the grass. That's a cycle."
Activist: "Cycles still add up."
Farmer: "A closed cycle doesn't add up. It goes around."
Activist: "You're being evasive."
Farmer: "I'm describing photosynthesis and respiration."
Activist: "In a way that conveniently excuses your cattle."
Farmer: "In a way that's accurate. The inconvenience is coincidental."
Activist: "I'll look it up."
Farmer: "You'll find it under GCSE Biology. Chapter three, roughly."

#DidYouKnow that Ginger contains nutrients such as manganese, copper, magnesium, and vitamin B6, essential for healthy joint function? Studies also suggest ginger can help reduce the production of inflammatory prostaglandins, hormones that cause pain in people with arthritis.

Activist: "Your cows are fed soy from cleared rainforests."
Farmer: "My cows eat grass."
Activist: "All cattle eat soy."
Farmer: "Mine don't. They're ruminants. Grass is literally what they're designed to eat."
Activist: "Industrial cattle are fed soy."
Farmer: "I'm not industrial. I'm watching them eat grass right now."
Activist: "But most beef comes from..."
Farmer: "Most beef in Britain comes from grass-fed cattle. We have this thing called rain. Makes grass grow quite well."
Activist: "The statistics say...."
Farmer: "The statistics are global. You're standing in Cumbria."
Activist: "Still, the global supply chain..."
Farmer: "Doesn't include me. My supply chain is: grass to cow to butcher to customer. Four steps. No soy."
Activist: "You're an exception."
Farmer: "I'm the norm here."
