I’ve typed this out like three times now trying to work through exactly how I want to word this…(I agree with Filu for the tldr) 1) Vtubing is a luxury. If you are intending to make money off it in any form (Throne, donos, etc), it is a *business*. You don’t need to have a model. 2) Free models (premades and VRoid) and affordable premades/customizables exist. 3) Payment plans exist. You can set aside budgets to go towards your model as you use those in point 2. I worked with a VRoid I made myself when I first started. 4) Unless you are already making a ton of money, you do not need all the bells and whistles. Stop feeling like you have to copy all the big names and trends as they happen. It’s the same idea of “don’t worry about what your neighbors have”. It’s a bad mindset to have. Content creation depends on the content you create. 5) Artists that “charge a ton” do so for a reason. It is a mix of time, experience, and skills. A lot have high demand, and it is healthier for them to take less models at a higher commission cost than a ton at a low cost. Even if you don’t have the demand of major artists, doing a lot of cheaper comms hurts you since it often overstretches you. You end up behind in queues or end up having to take a lot of emergency commissions to cover bills…it just piles on. 6) Still too expensive? Take time and study it yourself. You don’t need a ton of fancy tools. Just time and studying. Also, fuck AI. If you are using it because “artists are too expensive for you”…go fuck yourself.
