@kpp009 @BettingRugby999 Vraiment pas sa meilleure saison. Contrairement à Papalii ou Flanders il ne va pas donner de gros regrets aux sélectionneurs.

@GauthierBaudin Assez mérité, ses 3-4 derniers matchs avec les Drua ont été excellents. Je le trouvais un peu en dedans physiquement au début de saison mais là il revient bien.

Virimi Vakatawa a été sélectionné dans la liste préliminaire de 50 joueurs des Fidji, réalisée par le sélectionneur intérimaire Senirusi Seruvakula, pour le Nations Championship !

Papalii, Fineanganofo, Sotutu et maintenant Flanders, pas forcément des premiers choix pour la sélection mais des joueurs qui auraient pu avoir leur mot à dire avec le nouveau sélectionneur. Et pendant ce temps là les U20 perdent pour la première fois de leur histoire face à l'Argentine...

Nouveau symbole de la crise qui touche le rugby à XV en NZ. Les Hurricanes, 1er du Super Rugby vont perdre le meilleur marqueur de la ligue et un troisième ligne de 26 ans qui sort la meilleure saison de sa carrière. Les deux auraient logiquement été appelés dans le squad All Black cet été.

Malgré la défaite on peut noter la belle performance du demi d'ouverture de l'Australie U20 contre la Nouvelle-Zélande

Les Sud-Afs le comparent déjà à Ma'a Nonu mais je trouve pour ma part qu'il ressemble plus à un jeune Matthieu Bastareaud. Centre de gravité très bas, capacité à rebondir et à avancer avec plusieurs défenseurs sur le dos. Mais on sent qu'il n'y a aucune intention de faire jouer derrière lui au contact.

La compo des Baby Blacks pour le premier match du TRC U20 contre l'Australie. A suivre notamment la charnière Sinton-Muliaina qui a déjà pas mal de temps de jeu en NPC. J'aime bien le troisième ligne McLeod et Wiseman au centre avait été très bon la saison dernière aussi.

Despite being an absolute triumph, sell out crowds and the unveiling of a world class international stadium in Christchurch, Super Round has proven one thing, Rugby 360 (if it ever becomes a real thing) will never work. For fifteen long years, the people of Christchurch had waited for a permanent home to replace the beloved Lancaster Park. The venue is an architectural masterpiece. The acoustics of the enclosed arena magnified every single cheer into a deafening roar. It was widely hailed as the final anchor project of the city’s post-earthquake rebuild. So, when the hometown Crusaders ran out onto the perfectly manicured pitch on opening night to secure a 35-20 bonus-point victory over the Waratahs, the atmosphere was utterly electric. In contrast, the premier Saturday night game between the Blues and the Reds fell completely flat. If you listened to the broadcast, all you could hear is the rumbled murmuring of a disinterested crowd. On paper, this match was the absolute pinnacle of what modern, professional rugby union strives to be. It was a ten-try spectacle played between two deeply talented rosters climaxing in a sudden-death golden point thriller. And yet, the crowd went... mild. In spite of many fans making the trip down to watch the unveiling of Christchurch's new stadium the large majority of fans were Christchurch locals, and therefore Crusaders fans. For a stadium packed entirely with Cantabrians, watching the Auckland team secure a golden point victory was a deeply unappealing prospect. They appreciated the skills, but they held no emotional stake in the jersey. The result? Passionate-less viewership. Spectators watching a show. This is the exact reason why the proposed rebel league, Rugby 360, will never successfully capture the core audience of the sport. Rugby is heavily tribal. its about your team, from your home. The emotional connection that a fan has with to their local franchise. When you place a crowd in a neutral venue to watch neutral teams, that sense of territorial ownership vanishes entirely. The architects of Rugby 360 repeatedly cite motorsports as one of their primary inspirations, explicitly stating that they intend to run the league in a Formula 1 Grand Prix style format. The plan involves hosting individual tournament rounds in a different major international city each week, abandoning the traditional home-and-away domestic model entirely. This fundamental misunderstanding of rugby consumerism is the fatal flaw at the heart of the Rugby 360 corporate blueprint. The structure of Formula 1 naturally supports a transient, globalised audience. During a Grand Prix weekend, all twenty drivers and all ten constructors are on the track simultaneously for the duration of the main event. A spectator purchasing a ticket to a race in Austin, Texas, is absolutely guaranteed to watch their chosen athlete compete for the entire two-hour spectacle. Rugby 360’s application of this touring model to a team sport is fundamentally broken. A spectator might attend the event because they have chosen to support a specific franchise, but that franchise will only be on the pitch for a single 80-minute window. For the remaining six or eight hours of the festival, the spectator is forced to watch completely neutral teams playing matches that have no bearing on their chosen allegiance. The viewing experience becomes entirely passive, perfectly mirroring the rumbled murmuring heard during the Blues versus Reds match. Just think about the atmosphere at Eden Park, Ellis Park, Stade de France, Aviva Stadium, or Twickenham (Yes, Twickenham not Allianz). You cannot simply manufacture that kind of atmosphere by putting a DJ behind the goalposts and playing music during stoppages. R360’s proposal to rip the game of rugby out of these historic, deeply ingrained territories and drop it into neutral, pop-up venues in Miami, Dubai, or Las Vegas is a fundamental miscalculation of what drives the sport's intensity. And Saturday night's game demonstrated exactly what happens when the tribal element is removed from professional rugby. Even the acoustics of an enclosed roof could not exaggerate the muted, polite applause from a stadium packed with 25,000 neutral fans. The sport of rugby union is not designed to be a passive, consumable spectacle. It is a game built entirely on deeply entrenched rivalries, historic, generational grudges, and the unbreakable, tribal bond between community and its team. Rugby 360’s ambition to completely sanitise this raw tribalism, package it into generic, stateless franchises, and tour it around the globe like a travelling circus is a catastrophic misread of the rugby consumer. It attempts to compete with the brand-driven engagement of Formula 1, entirely sacrificing the core identity of the sport in the process. A stadium of away fans garners only so much interest, and at best passionate-less viewers, not engaged supporters.

La saison est franchement mi-figue mi-cagette jusque là mais il y a un truc à faire sur les 3 prochains matchs pour espérer quelque chose au classement final. J'aime bien cette compo, ça tourne un peu mais c'est solide, banc en 6-2 et retours de Ma'u et de JRK comme titulaires.

Leicester Fainga'anuku sera titulaire ce week-end au poste de troisième ligne aile. On attendait plutôt la pépite Oli Mathis dans ce registre mais les entraîneurs des Crusaders (probablement en concertation avec le staff AB) veulent développer la polyalence de Fainga'anuku.

@Raph_Ibanesse Donc oui, aujourd'hui les NZ se retrouvent isolés sur les compétitions de clubs en terme de niveau de jeu proposés et là où World Rugby a sa part de responsabilité c'est que la zone Pacifique est totalement abandonnée (vous vous rappelez des Samoa ?) au profit du XIII

@Raph_Ibanesse Et le départ des Sud-Africains n'a pas été réellement provoqué par les NZ, il y a eu un désaccord du fait de la complexité liée aux règles sanitaires post COVID et les Sud-Afs en ont profité pour se rapprocher de l'Europe. Choix plus intéressant financièrement pour eux.

La Nouvelle-Zélande a dénigré la compétition de clubs pendant des décennies et commence tout juste à se rendre compte que ce n'était peut-être pas une super idée. Et évidemment, plutôt que d'assumer, ils rejettent la faute sur World Rugby qui est pourtant leur paillasson.

Triste annonce de la nuit avec la disparition probable des Moana Pasifika après les Melbourne Rebels il y a deux ans. L'écart avec le XIII continue de se creuser dans le Pacifique, en parallèle la NRL continue de créer de nouvelles équipes dans ces territoires.

A suivre notamment le duel des 10 entre l'ancien Beauden Barrett et son regen Ruben Love qui lui a succédé à l'ouverture chez les Hurricanes. En cas de grosse prestation de Love face à son modèle, ça pourrait amorcer une passation de pouvoir en sélection également.

Pour les amateurs de rugby-où-ça-défend-pas-mais-quand-même-un-peu-plus-qu'en-champions-cup-où-lors-du-dernier-France-Angleterre : gros choc de cette neuxième journée de Super Rugby entre les Hurricanes et les Blues, les deux premiers du championnat.
