The most pathetic and sad phenomenon I have witnessed when interacting with Christians on this topic is watching them desperately try to literally change the meaning of words in order to wiggle out of a damning document. Example: a document might say "we live in the final confrontation with Christianity" and their response will be "oh that just means modern subverted church teachings, not Christianity itself." Uhh no, it says what it says, period.
