To members of the media: Please pay close attention to the ongoing Russian campaign of terror in Ukraine. ​Over the course of just over 24 hours, Russian strikes have claimed numerous civilian lives: - ​7 people in Merefa (just outside Kharkiv) yesterday - ​5 people in Poltava today (double tap targeted and killed firefighters) - ​5 people in Kramatorsk - ​12 people in Zaporizhzhia - ​4 people in Dnipro just now All of these numbers still may update, unfortunately, since doctors are fighting for the life's of the injured. ​These strikes were intentionally launched on busy city streets in broad daylight to maximize casualties. These victims deserve to be remembered. This must be reported accurately, as a coordinated campaign of terror and murder, rather than isolated incidents that leave room for excuses.

Throughout May 5, Russia carried out numerous attacks across Ukraine. As a result of strikes targeting nine regions, at least 27 people have been killed and over 120 injured – all in a single day. Following its usual tactics of terror, many civilian sites have been hit. A day that should have marked the entry into force of a ceasefire proposed by Ukraine is instead ending with a rising toll of victims from intensified Russian attacks. There are no signs that Russia is planning to stop its senseless and brutal war, and no clear response indicating a return to diplomacy for the sake of lasting peace – only more killings. While Russia shows no interest in saving human lives, a collective and firm position is needed from all those who support the protection of life and value peace. Terror must be stopped.

With mere hours until Ukraine’s ceasefire proposal comes into force, Russia shows no signs of preparing to end hostilities. On the contrary, Moscow intensifies terror. A few hours ago, Russia dropped air bombs on the center of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, killing at least 5 people and injuring 12 more. Another Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia killed today at least 12 people and injured 37 more. In the evening, Russian terrorists attacked Dnipro, and as of now, 4 people were killed. Civilians were targeted again. Instead of clearly responding to Ukraine’s suggestion, Russia continues to kill, lie, and deny. We urge clear and strong public statements by all leaders, ministers, and heads of international organisations. Please, take the side of peace and make your position clear.

The russians targeted rescuers exactly when they started putting out the fire at the gas extraction facility. Viktor Kuzmenko led a rescue mission after the russian terrorist act in Poltava in 2024. That saved 17 lives. Dmytro Skryl served in the emergency service for more than 20 years, taking part in numerous missions to fight aftermath of the russian strikes.
