From Oct 2022 thru Nov 2024, the Seattle Kraken scored 7+ goals on 13 occasions, 2nd-most in the NHL over that span. Since then, they haven't reached that mark once. After tonight, the drought will be 78 straight games, matching the longest in franchise history. #SeaKraken

@sbellman523 Agree with all your points. Makes the 2 upcoming games vs EDM all the more crucial.

Well I strongly believe 3 of those 4 teams, that are currently out, will make the Playoff and Anaheim is very likely in. 3 of those are western. I hope more than anything that the Kraken can keep this up for 60 more games but without some offensive help, somewhere, that is going to be tough.

The reason why this narrative has been getting more attention this year is that a bunch of unexpected teams (BOS, PHI, SEA, ANA) hold playoff positions while FLA, WSH, EDM, WPG are currently on the outside looking in #SeaKraken

@Czar151 @NHLtoSeattle Thanks this is good context - more bunching is occurring in the sense that not as many teams have pulled away from the pack. I’ve heard the term used more in the context of how many teams are still “in the playoff race”, and in that sense I think it’s being misrepresented.

@KrakenStats Here's a visual aid (S/A @NHLtoSeattle) where you can definitely see it's more bunched than previous years. I sense some separation is starting to occur though.

Been hearing the "bunching" narrative a ton this year, and while it's true, it's not really different from any other year — teams are always bunched together this early in the season 2024: 11 teams within 4 pts of cut line 2025: 11 teams within 4 pts of cut line #SeaKraken

It is guaranteed that the Seattle Kraken will hold a playoff spot on Thanksgiving, but the next 13 games leading up to the Christmas break are the truly season-defining stretch. All but 2 against conference opponents, and most against legitimate playoff contenders. #SeaKraken
