@DavidDack When training I rarely took any fuel or water for anything 15 miles and under (unless extreme heat). Long runs 20-22 miles etc I took water and gels more for practice on fueling for race day. It’s important for me to know when, how much etc

How far into a long run do you stop pretending fuel is optional? 10K? 15K? 20K? Or do you wait until the bonk makes the decision for you?

Some outdoor runners act like treadmill miles do not count. Come on. You ran. Your heart worked. Your legs worked. The miles count. But I am not counting a treadmill PR the same as a road PR either. That number does not always follow you outside.

Just to be clear, this is only bad for the precious souls whose "circadian rhythms" will thrown asunder if it's not a lil light out when they wake up? For all normal people who don't like it getting dark at 5pm it's a good thing. Do I have that right?

BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.

I don’t know any parent who sends their kid out the door alone in the morning to wait for a bus. That argument is lame. And if you do, shame on you.

@NikkiNic9384 This whole thing started because snowflakes find it too burdensome to change their clocks by one hour. They tried this once in the 70s and it failed miserably. Will again.

Everybody is fighting over DST/ST and I didn’t realize just how many people felt so strongly about when the sun rises and sets 🤣 These threads are crazy because people are really going at it over this. Personally I hate when it gets dark at like 4pm but I hate changing the time more. Someone just pick one and let me know what we’re doing. TIA 🫡

Neither the change or the status quo is ideal for the shortest days of Winter, but 4:30pm darkness is worse than an 8:00am sunrise. At least you have daytime to look forward to with the latter.

@burgwx I would like to think with the proliferation of smartphones and the way the average person's work life is, this would stand a chance at sticking this time around I personally had (for the first time in my life) a very hard time "springing forward" this year, I'd like to end it

Just a few apolitical things to consider here: 1. We already tried this back in 1974, when permanent DST had 79% public support per polling - but rapidly became unpopular after very late winter sunrises, and was cancelled within 2 years

@burgwx Your post didn't mention that DST was implemented in Jamnuary 1974 inthe middle of winter. Very poorly implented and people just could not get used to it. We are on DST for most of the year anyway. It makes more sense to keep that.
