Rose Kravitz was one of the Mahoning Valley’s first female entrepreneurs when she opened her deli at 23. Today her favorite reminders, known at the deli as "Rose-isms", are sage advice for local entrepreneurs.

Rose’s daughter, explained that her mother would have loved this week’s celebration “My mother believed birthdays should be celebrated for more than one day,” she said. “You have your birthday, and then you keep on celebrating…as long as people will tolerate you.”

It’s not the first time in our history that “mama knew best.” As pictured above, both Rose and Jack Kravitz ran the deli. In 2022, Matt Rydarowicz listened to his own mother's advice and bought the business.
