The employment contracts were written only in Russian, which the men do not understand, and according to Russian law of 2022, military contracts can be automatically extended until the end of the war.

The BBC exposed a Telegram channel run by a 40-year-old teacher from Voronezh who recruited several hundred men from third world countries to fight in the war against Ukraine. Polina Azarnykh offers men a one-year contract in the rear, a salary of $2,500 and Russian citizenship.
