@teadrlnk Yeah. The government has no role here.
If the workers think collective action will result in a better outcome, they should be allowed to do so.
As should corporations be allowed to automate away or outsource jobs.
I just don't see why the feds have any role to play here.
@teadrlnk Free market take:
Canada has a second international airline, it's called West Jet. There are also various American airlines that service Canada.
No reason for the feds to step in here, in favor of anyone. Let nature (labor supply/demand) sort it self out.
@teadrlnk I think the chaotic evil answer would be gunpowder and it's applications.
I'm pretty sure industrialization happened not because the ruling class was feeling altruistic. I'm pretty sure it happened because states needed to increase output and efficiency if they wanted to survive
The initial 2 months of my first long duration mission there were only 2 other astronauts aboard Space Station. On a typical day we worked on different tasks and experiments, many of mine being in the Kibo module where I was frequently alone during the work hours. We ate three meals a day together and I cherished our comradery onboard. But it was easy to feel that the three of us are isolated from the rest of the world. As we consider sending astronauts on long-term missions, it's important to incorporate ways to combat these experiences, especially in situations where ground communication will be more difficult and less frequent.
@Peter_J_Beck Congrats on launch!
Gotta say, as a share holder, I get to sleep way too easy at night during an electron launch.
I vaguely remember the last time an electron mission went bust...
Speaks volumes on the quality and capability of the company!
@teadrlnk I think Islam is a horrible religion, but I would be opposed to people losing the right to practice it.
However, I am all for the freedom of people being able to choose to leave religions. It seems to me that in most parts of the Islamic world, that is not possible for women.
@teadrlnk Ok but like, doesn't it suck being a woman in that part of the world?
Shit like child marriage is horrific, and forcing women (any human being) to wear the burkha is psychological abuse.
Why do people side with proponents of this abuse?
Why can't we criticize both sides?
