@landrymajor Thanks Landry, it really is a wonderful medium. I’m currently making tintypes and haven’t ventured much into glass ambrotypes yet. The quick prep stage for tintypes lured me in slightly.

@KrisAskey Are you making tintypes or on glass? It’s a wonderful medium.

For the last 3 months I’ve been learning a Victorian method of photography from 1851 called ‘Wet Plate Collodion’. The moment a plate is poured, it needs to be exposed & developed within 10-15 minutes before it dries out. Very steep learning curve but it’s been quite liberating.

@jordanacostahq Cheers, Jordan! Yes I have noted down somewhere re: temperature. I think a few plates I did a week or 2 ago were drying a lot faster than anticipated. Also need to cool down the developer 😬

@auspices @MidWorldMo Oh yeah, I can imagine. It’s such an immersive practice that isn’t easy to just pick up when you’ve got 5 minutes - I’ll soon learn that! No problem re: strobes, happy to answer, I’m still working out the finer details, but all I’d say is make sure you’ve got about 2400w+ 😬

@KrisAskey @MidWorldMo Fantastic, I’ve still got my set up but life has got in the way, I’ll have to ask you about the strobes, one thing I know absolutely nothing about. Natural light is great but occasionally I’m miles off 😂

@auspices @MidWorldMo Thanks, Rich! Slowly but surely making my way through it. I started off tackling strobes and getting that down first. The last 2 weeks (?) have been me trying out some natural light guess-sposures which I’ll continue to do for a bit until I’ve got more of an understanding haha!

@PaulWChambers70 I think you’re right, with all the variables I can’t imagine my brain being able to cope with much else extra being thrown into the mix! Haha. I haven’t delved into Ambrotypes just yet, feel working on tin is enough for me at the minute.

@KrisAskey There’s no curve steeper in photography but none more rewarding either - in my wee opinion.
