@KBowen1070 He clearly cannot draft them. That’s obvious by now. Knowing that, it is inexcusable to be coming up short on the FA he “pursues”. Hunter, now Hendrickson. Ballard always sets a cap that is not in line with the league’s value and misses out. Can’t draft, won’t sign

Of course. Detroit is just in a much better position to not get Hendrickson, you could argue they should allocate 30-35M elsewhere since they have Hutch. Indy is in a much different spot and with a GM who can’t draft edges worth a damn. They need a force there, now. Options are extremely limited for them.

And not comparing Latu to Hutch, to be clear. Just comparing situations, not players.
Kris Gibson@KrisWG23

@HolderStephen The difference is “opposite Hutchinson” is very different than “..Latu”. Indy needs a Hutchinson or they need 3 more Latus. The rush has been weak for a long time, despite an absurd draft investment since Ballard took over. It’s a group he sucks at drafting, for whatever reason.

This tweet is basically applicable for the Colts too, for the guy opposite Latu (yes, they signed Arden Key but I imagine they need to make another edge move. I think he’s more a rotational guy).
Dave Birkett@davebirkett

Let's assume Trey Hendrickson stays out of the Lions' price range. Rank these options to play opposite Hutchinson: Al-Quadin Muhammad, Cam Jordan, Logan Hall, Joey Bosa, K'Lavon Chaisson, AJ Epenesa, Clowney or someone I'm forgetting...

Also, the people who claim to be mad will probably threaten boycotts, and a year from now the NFL will once again announce record ratings for the 2026 season 😂😂😂

The funny thing about this is, I’d say MOST artists selected for the halftime show in my lifetime are ones I barely listened to. Same applies here. And I never once cared. Was never a big deal to me. Why is the reaction here so different? 🤔
Kalyn Kahler@kalynkahler

Despite backlash from Trump & his supporters over Bad Bunny's criticism of Trump's immigration policies- the NFL has stood by Bad Bunny as the SB halftime artist. "The goal is global reach,'" one club exec said. "And this guy has a massive global reach." espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

@HolderStephen It’s in part the same reason Ballard is still here. It can get worse than 8-9 wins per year. It can get better too, but you risk it getting worse. NFL teams get held hostage by middling GMs, coaches & QBs all the time

@HolderStephen Get your point. But if he isn’t taking you where you want to go, & he’s not, why delay at least trying to find someone who can? The “it could get worse” fear is how you get Tua, his contract & many others. NFL teams are so afraid of getting worse that they don’t try to get better

Unpopular opinion among Colts fans who wanted to blow it up, but w 10 NFL coaching changes, firing Shane Steichen would’ve left the Colts in a tough spot. Not sure how you assume they’d have gotten a clear upgrade. Ask around the NFL and people believe Shane is a solid coach.

@HolderStephen Making it hard on themselves. It’s wild that the team with the $4M NIL QB wants to hide him and play slow while the team with the D2 transfer wants to go full on air raid. I know MIA has the D that warrants more conservative, but still.

@HolderStephen She basically said Ballard finally participated in FA &the team looked good for 10 weeks. I heard a lot of her dad up there. Blind optimism. Focus on the 10 weeks it looked good, no context of opponents or anything, & ignore 8+ yrs of Ballard and 3+ of Steichen outside 10 weeks.

There’s a lot of focus on the optics of Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon’s press conference on Monday. But what’s most important is what she actually said. She was intentionally vague, but there was a lot there if you listened. Details: espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

@HolderStephen 6 yr sample in NY (not ideal circumstances, so some context) & 12 games in Indy. Of course, Indy brass disregards 6 years of data, concludes he is amazing, & sells their future for a CB. He's always been coming back, likely on a bad contract, & now he'll do it off an achilles

@KBowen1070 Every team has injuries. This team was sliding as the schedule shifted to better opponents, which was followed by injuries. Apologists and blind optimists (Owners among them) see the injuries rather than the clear truth. Ballard is bad at this. Steichen is an OC at best.

@rcl51087 @KBowen1070 Exactly! This is not a serious NFL franchise. Grigson's nonsense, ruining Luck, hiring Saturday to coach, a full decade of justifying Ballard's failures, the absurd Rivers move. Hoped the new leadership would bring change but appears just more of the same.

@HolderStephen Going 0-7 wasn’t a factor? So they get to keep their job forever? What serious person in society can be objectively bad at their job for a decade and still retain employment?

This is not a surprise and it has been trending this way for a while. Most local media had been hinting at this. The late-season losses weren't a huge factor in this from everything I've seen and heard.

@JoelAErickson @GreggDoyelStar Held out real hope that new ownership would cure the delusional optimism and loyalty to a fault that plagued an otherwise great owner. Sadly, just a younger version of the same thing. Colts fans don’t even get hope for better, just same ole shit every year for a decade
