I was laid off today after 11+ yrs at the Omaha World-Herald & 42 yrs as a reporter. No regrets, but I'll miss my great colleagues!

Now might be a good time to note this will be one of my final stories for the paper. Today is my last day at the OWH, after seven years covering Sarpy County, education, floods and now a global pandemic. I'll be starting a new job at the Buffett Early Childhood Institute

It saddened me when I heard of Rudy Smith's passing a few months ago. But I'm so glad the the World Hearld finished the book that honors his more than 45 years of photographs documenting the Black experience in Omaha. Good work @KristineGerber and everyone who worked on it.
