@thorpeheath Congrats! I wonder if this is the first skill originated by a woman that was named into the men's code. We've seen it on the women's side (Markelov/Khorkina, hop full) but I can't think of it going in the other direction.

How do you define "Artistry" and
how should it apply to Men's Gymnastics?
My latest blog post explores:
What is Artistry, Anyway? wix.to/IGP6BBM

@kensleyanne Equally impressed that the coverage includes a live D score tally 😜

The Armenian youngsters are truly a force to be reckoned with.

@IlliniMGym And yes, from the judges’ chairs, them lights are certainly bright!
Good luck to all competing this weekend!

@MAGRambles However, if it is an inaccurate, inflated E score, there could be other influences in play. (E. G., Home advantage, audience influenced bias, within team order bias, reputation bias, etc., to name a few.)
English

@MAGRambles In some cases, it might be an example of trust among panel members, who have calibrated and prepared together to accurately reward excellence.
English

What is calibration in gymnastics judging and how can it be done better?

@MAGRambles I don’t necessarily agree with the philosophy, but in this case, leniency at the lower levels is written in the rules.
English

@MAGRambles The USA Men’s Developmental Program dictates in the rules at the Club Level that judges are only allowed to take one deduction for each element performed. Likewise, the scale for deductions in the USA MAG Compulsory levels are -0.1 (small), -0.2 (med), -0.3 (lg), and -0.5 (fall)

@Pamchenkova Having the individual judge scoring data would also be incredibly helpful for research investigating the evolution (and reduction) of various types of judging trends and biases.
English

@zbhzjy Because it hasn’t “officially” been published anywhere by the MTC and only mentioned in the FIG courses.
English

@zbhzjy They made me lose my confidence too (and need a stiff drink) 🍷

I said it too early. Half of the 2022 WC TF PH routines are worse than Su Weide. Su Weide who doesn’t PH specifically is better than half of the AAers in 2022.
zbhzjy@zbhzjy
I got to Su Weide. My writing is as messy as that routine.
English

@zbhzjy Yeah….
2023 Quals is a slog… 😮💨
2022 is even more disheartening… the A’s and B’s go on forever.

Knowing the correct order of operations is essential for accurate D jury evaluations in the 2025-2028 Code.
This article breaks it down for Rings.
