@Kennichijou This is more or less what they went for, yes. Is rather Buddhism concepts through a coat of paint because Christianism looked cool and exotic to the staff, and also it was paying tribute to Ultraman.

As someone who grew up christian, the religious imagery in Evangelion feels like it's there more so to evoke the feelings and existential dread associated with religious concepts such as God, eternity, sin, etc, rather than being actual symbolism for christian themes.

@DonghuaStuff In China those "film comics" "anime comics" that were popular in the 90s are still popular over there and I think sometimes that's what they mean with "manhua". I also wouldn't doubt its a web vertical format :(

According to a fan who attended a preview screening event for "False Memory" in China, one of the directors for the donghua revealed that False Memory will be getting a manhua adaptation.

@Xiafei_Eater So people are arguing on the basis of the collection of traits of an archetype. Which frankly is still annoying to do because these are guides for writing original romance stories, not for inserting in pre-existing characters and so is just spreading and mischaracterization

@Xiafei_Eater I think it gets muddied because in Japan and China people use "uke seme" "gong shou" which are specifically character archetypes analogous to "hero heroine" meanwhile English fandoms don't have such a thing just say "top bottom" and makes everything and everyone sounds insane

Not evry dating sim automatically in Otome genre, tokimeki clearly had 5 different girs as MC. Kokoro not even otome game 🙄do ppl not know the meanng of otome and jouseimuke?

@Black_Chalk19 @Fuguemichie a lot of dating sim and assorted games with romance targeted to men have self insert MC with the posibility of being a woman or a gay romance option (like Kokoro...), or a whole game targeted to a different audience (Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side) and literally no one complained
