@AmoebaUK I wouldn't really recommend either to someone starting out on anime, but I see your point. Anyway, it is hard to recommend blindly, unless you know what the person likes in general.

But these are good anime for beginners? Actual plots, themes and character development. Realistically "anime for experts" would just be Isekai ugu harem FotM number 27
