The Chancellor of Wits University is elected by Convocation (i.e. all the degree graduates of Wits University). It’s a ceremonial role.
None of the chancellors elected since the founding of Wits in 1922 have a PhD or are professors.

Following a landmark 2025 Corruption Risk Assessment conducted with community partners, Corruption Watch has just presented a sobering report to the Eastern Cape provincial legislature. The findings suggest that in the Eastern Cape, poor service delivery isn't just an accident, but the result of a 'self-reinforcing ecosystem' of corruption. Apartheid in South Africa is very poorly memorialised. There is no public apartheid museum.
There are more World War 2 memorials than there are apartheid memorials.
Of the few that do exist, many are poorly maintained and falling apart. It’s such a bizarre situation.

Do supporters of Israel not hear when their leaders speak? They are ALWAYS swallowing the lies and inconsistencies. It is deliberate, clearly. Netanyahu has claimed for decades that Iran has nuclear weapons. That's the premise of the war. Now he says? It It was ALWAYS about regime change.
On Wednesday, US Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard told Congress that Israel and US have distinct objectives for the war: For US it's to disable Iran's military capacity and for Israel, it was "disabling Iran leadership." That's a euphemism for regime change. Everything else - threats to Israel and the US - lies.
