I don’t believe that now is the right time for a leadership election. Less than two years into office; economic policy starting to work in the face of phenomenal challenges, international policy putting Britain back on a credible footing; progress against all of the 5 Missions.

@Turmaine We’re polling constituents. The vast feedback is that these surgeries are pointless. You don’t take action. You don’t respond to emails/letters. And when you do, it’s scripted or copy/paste material.

Great day today for #NHS news. Waiting lists down 110,000 in March - biggest non-COVID drop since 2008! Elective targets were hit, fastest stroke and heart attack ambulance rates for 5 years! 2,000 more GPs. 8,500 more mental health staff.

Starmer and Reeves are not kidding when they say this political uncertainty causes economic damage. The only “reset” being achieved at the moment is higher borrowing costs. Result? We’re all worse off. So deeply depressing.

Labour was elected to change this country. That is what the public want, and what they deserve. Tough days like today don’t weaken our determination to deliver that change. They strengthen it.

The #LabourGovernment recently awarded a £4.5 million uplift to Watford Council. Reversing cuts to local government funding and ending years of austerity under the Tories and Coalition. So, it’s good to see that the council is freezing its part of the council tax bill this year.

There’s good news on the cost-of-living and the economy. Inflation is falling, the BoE has cut interest rates six times since the election (a 17 year record), cutting the national debt and the best growth of European G7 countries in 2025. The #LabourGovernment’s plan is working!
