“Why can’t you respect people’s political choices and opinions?” Well, it is because it’s a matter of self-defense. This picture was taken in 1970. These two leftist girls joined the revolution to bring in the Ayatollah. That’s his picture. Well, immediately after he consolidated power, he turned against his liberal supporters. He killed thousands. But the tragic part is that the same Ayatollah killed one of the girls in this picture. And the other had to flee. The question is: if these girls had known that the man they were bringing into power would eventually kill them, would they still have supported him? Or if they had known, and then saw others trying to bring him into power, would they have opposed them or simply “respected their choices”? Many people think we are merely playing politics. I will either be a direct victim or a beneficiary of the eventual political outcome. Why then shouldn’t I oppose those I believe are supporting a candidate I’m convinced is against my existential well-being? Politics is self-preservation and self-defense. If someone wants to hurt me, should I simply respect their choice to do so? Policies kill. When Buhari mindlessly rendered the old naira untenable, people literally died because there was a cash shortage and they could not pay hospital bills. Politics is about life and death. Tinubu negotiates with terrorists. I heard they took tons of pupils from a school in Ondo a couple of days ago. Would you have the effrontery to tell the parents of such children to “respect your political choice” when the man you’re campaigning for has implicitly contributed to them losing a child? Those of you who support Tinubu should know that we are not politicians like you. We are national pragmatists. We know policies will affect our lives. So, if your political choice threatens my self-preservation, it is only rational self-defence for me to oppose you on that opinion. And with all civility, humility, wisdom, and vociferous resolve, we will oppose such opinions.

After four hours ,they begged someone to stop and drive me to the hospital. Only one Doctor was on call so I had to wait for my turn because 30 other people were rushed here earlier than me In the process of waiting, masked officers came to forcefully drag the Doctor out, and while other people resisted, they sprayed tear gas and bullets. Now I am choking from tear gas in the hospital I was rushed to for sickness Send help!

The shock that they actually brought light was greater than the actual shock itself. My skin is burning, my muscles are still locked from the current, and I can barely move. We have been calling an ambulance for over 40 minutes, but they said the only available ambulance had a flat tire. Now they are saying the backup vehicle has no fuel. A good Samaritan finally got to me with a basic first aid box and an old rusty stretcher, but we are completely stuck here. I am lying on stones waiting for a miracle because there is no fast emergency response. Please, everyone should get their PVCs.

My first job in the UK 🇬🇧 was pot washing in a fancy hotel kitchen 😭🇬🇧 On one of my first shifts, I decided to impress everybody with my “hardworking Naija spirit” 😂 The pile of pots and plates they expected to last 5 hours of the shift, Omo I finished everything in 3 hours 😇😆 I was SO proud of myself. In my mind I was like: “Now I can relax small… maybe drink water peacefully and observe life” 😌 So I leaned on the dishwasher machine for literally a few minutes watching the chefs cook. Little did I know… All the sous chefs were acting supervisors and monitoring spirits 😭 “Chi is finished pot washing.” I didn't even see the senior chef 🧑‍🍳 coming. One minute I was watching a man sauté something, the next minute there was a presence beside me.😪 "Right then. Since you're done —" What followed next, I cannot fully explain with words, but I will try.😪 I changed tissue rolls in every tissue lock on the wall. I replaced the liquid soaps hanging over all the sinks around the kitchen, I swept a kitchen that was already clean. I emptied bins that were barely full. I dragged bin trolleys OUTSIDE and cleaned them— with my two hands. I brought out every single cup and plate that I had just washed, dried them AGAIN, and aligned them in the boxes so very carefully 🤣 The man found me work for the remaining two hours. Every. Single. Minute. Accounted for.⏱️ I stood there arranging cups 🫖I had already arranged, and that's when the education hit me This is not Naija 🇳🇬. Nobody here cares that you finished early. If they are paying you for 6 hours, you will WORK for 6 hours.😩 There is no "I've finished, let me rest small." There is no leaning on the machine with your arms folded. There is no watching the chefs cook like you're a food critic.😩 If you finish your task find another one. Clean something. Organise something. Count the spoons and fork if you have to. JUST LOOK busy. Because the moment they catch you idle, they will not give you rest they will give you purpose. And their version of purpose at 2pm on a Tuesday is scrubbing a bin trolley in the cold outside. That day I learned one of the most important lessons of working in the UK:🇬🇧 Your hours belong to them. All of them. Even the quiet ones. I never leaned on that machine again. 😅 To every immigrant reading this — especially if you just started working here . Or you intend to work here, this is not about being lazy or not. It's just a different work culture. The sooner you understand it, the smoother your journey. No rest at work until you clock out.

My sexual orientation and discipline helped me during my first three months in Lagos. I went to squat with a female friend to look for a job, her two other friends were staying together with her. But I left Benue to Lagos to manage stay with them until I get a paying job. I must be sincere, it wasn’t easy robbing body with adult female roommates without anything attached. As a man, sometimes I feel the urge but I just have to control it. Benue man narrates his experience as a new comer in Lagos. Me: If it is this picture, then it is well. It has to be well. It is well indeed. In fact, it must be well. E done well sef. Buy, sorry, bye...🙆

At 52, I’m finally a mother to twin boys. For 18 years, they mocked me and called me “Empty House.” I watched others get married, have children, and move on while I stayed in the same place. The whispers never stopped. Some even told my husband to leave me. There were nights I cried quietly, wondering if my time had passed. At one point, I told my husband to let me go so he could move on, but he held my hand and said, “Let’s wait.” When it felt like all hope was gone, it happened. At 51, I conceived, and now at 52, I’ve given birth to twin boys. After years of waiting, my story changed. I’m sharing this for anyone who feels forgotten or delayed. Do you believe it’s ever too late for life to change?

I was in Efon Alaaye (Ekiti state) for three days and i kept wondering if the state even had a Local government, not to talk of state or representative in the federal level. I used to think Ekiti was filled with intelligent and educated people but nahhh, it's a lie!!!!
