Out of his 597 runs, 367 came against minnows and lower-ranked teams in the tournament. 3. He played a total of 5 matches against the other three semifinalists in the 2023 World Cup and didn't score a single 50. 4. He was poor in the 2025 Champions Trophy, but his slogging worked in the final, helped by dropped catches. 5. He has been out of form in the last three ODI series. 6. He is 40 years old and will be 41 next year, while youngster Jaiswal is already knocking on the door. 7. The next World Cup is in South Africa, where he has his worst ODI stats and can't even get going with the bat. Stop fooling yourself and trust BCCI's decision here.
