The truck goes forward at 80 km/h, and the launcher fires you backward at the exact same speed. 80 minus 80. Zero. You drop straight down like hopping off a step. Galileo figured this out in 1632. He said that if you drop a ball from the top of a moving ship, it lands at the base, not behind it. Because the ball was already moving with the ship before you let go.
