Through our #Ford Foundation grant,our member @RosieResie led a session on “Family-Teacher Involvement” within the Maasai community in Kajiado. This aimed to build a supportive network and raise awareness on how families and teachers can support women and girls with disabilities.

Day 5 in #Geneva,with support by @IDA_CRPD_Forum,we had the pleasure of meeting Martyna,Office of the High Commissioner for Human Right (Human Rights & Disability Unit).We discussed issues on disability in Kenya and conversation around care.A productive and engaging discussion.

With support from @IDA_CRPD_Forum representatives of women with disabilities in Kenya will be making an oral presentation to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (#CESCR) on the first day of the 79th session in Geneva. Kenya has made significant milestones toward the realization of economic and social rights. To reach full sufficiency, the delegation of women will be advocating for even deeper engagement of women with disabilities in national development priorities. They will highlight key issues like data, education, social protection schemes, employment, the justice system among many other issues. The delegation will provide evidence of how the law has so far been implemented and the gaps that still exist. This process allows us to highlight where our systems are working and where they need more institutional support so that we can better implement the rights-based framework established in the different laws and policies. #Policy @Kwwdnetwork
