Stepping away from chess (voluntary and work) at the end of this month. Might be back at some point but with a few job changes and things my day was getting a bit unmanageable. The last 5 or so years have been great fun though, lots of lovely people and experiences ❤😊

Another incredibly nostalgic delivery today can’t wait to crack this open!

I just put a vr headset on my Mum and it was everything I thought it would be.

Aaaannnd it's done. 15 pages of theory and statistical testing only to prove that I was completely wrong and there is so relationship between the changes in the levels of public childcare provision and the gender pay gap.

My mum just fell asleep whilst I was in the middle of telling her a story about my day...

@Katheri97881122 I'm going to speak to my tutor. My hope is that "this is what I expected to happen, I have correctly performed this test, this is what actually happened, my assumption was wrong" is still an OK submission

@Kyaxx Does that mean your Diss is dead ?

Oh my God as if May couldn't get any more stressful I've just finally completed my data panel for my dissertation and the initial trend line is completely flat which throws out every paragraph of theory I had prepared. I have NEVER seen such a flat trend line.

@Uglyfish13 I didn't deserve to win that, I had a nightmare about that rook :s

I just lost at chess to @Kyaxx for the first time in maybe....15 years. No more Genshin for me, I am now solely playing chess until I beat her.

Today a doctor on the picket line said to me: “MPs have had a 42.7% increase since 2008, Junior Doctors have had a 25% decrease since 2010. So let’s not have MPs saying that pay restoration for doctors is unaffordable. We have families to feed as well.” A fair point indeed.

Oh, @Uglyfish13, do you remember walking home from school after orchestra and that lad shouted "Violin Player" at you? Must have cut deep, that one.

Somehow the power button fell out of my phone somewhere along the Victoria line so now I can't take screenshots or ever let myself run out of battery ever again but otherwise a really great conference, an excellent few days in London!

Question for @LondonChessConf - given that surveys of girls (e.g. @Girlguiding 's Attitude Survey) suggest that girls still feel dissuaded from participation in STEM what can the chess world do to ensure that reinforcing the chess/stem link doesn't unintentionally dissuade girls?

Been after a new tote bag for ages, and this one came with free copies of Chess magazine XD

Just packing my bags to spend the next few days in London. Get to spend the train journey rewriting my dissertation given yesterday's budget has pretty much done what I was going to attempt to cost up 😭

@Uglyfish13 Remember at GCSE where we were told to make up bs references because examiners won't check them? Reckon that holds true here as well?

Just written the first paragraph of my dissertation. It's absolute horse manure and I'm just inventing equations that 100% don't hold up mathematically.

Ran my 2nd secondary school tournament today. Learned lots from last year and I think today went infinitely smoother. Knackered now. Need a sleep
