Keep working @FernandPuentes 👏🏽 We got to use @FullSwingBSB today for the first time. Very impressive, easy set up and some of the metrics will be extremely beneficial for the players’ development. @CTJbaseball

Over-instruction is such a deterrent to a kid’s natural movement. Their capacity to move well is significantly higher than we give them credit for. But, it’s hard to monetize this in the world of lessons and youth coaching so people over coach and over-cue. #EveryoneIsGuessing

Bonus Topic: Blast Motion’s Rotational Acceleration is the hitters ability to accelerate the bat quickly into their Bat Speed. @Blast_Bsbl . Quick bat, good path, lots of hard contact 🚀🔥

Other key metrics here are 1. On Plane Efficiency (Swing Plane) 2. Vertical Bat Angle 3. Bat Speed You can even collect data in Off-Line mode and look at the data later. Simply swing with the sensor and connect to your Blast App after hitting to view your data.

Blast Motion @Blast_Bsbl measures Attack Angle and other swing metrics just like this with a simple sensor on the knob of the bat. It’s been used to dial in hitters Attack Angles for years - costs $150. Collect in any environment, training, BP, and even in-game. Must have tool

Look how deep, how early & how long Naylor is on plane with this pitch. By doing so he doesn’t have to be 100% on time to hit the ball hard on the barrel of the bat.

so many people train for an analytically perfect swing. nothing wrong with that, have to have a “good swing”. However, if you train 1 swing against 1 pitch, how many tools in the toolbox do you have? “Build” swings by training shapes. Create a rolodex!

@maxxclarkk13 Interesting point. Could you explain a little more?

QUICK UPDATE: Hey everyone, earlier this week, Blast Motion was forced to make a series of cuts, and unfortunately, I was one of those laid off. It was certainly surprising - I really enjoyed working at Blast (especially with MLB Bat Tracking now public), and I will always be super grateful for my time there. I learned a lot about player development, player evaluation, and what to do (and what not to do) when running a tech company. , I will always be an advocate for the @Blast_Bsbl product - I think every position player should have a glove, bat, spikes, and a Blast Sensor when they walk up to the field. With all that being said (and because baseball-tech employees don't normally have representation), I'm using this post to let everyone know that I am now a free agent. Thanks to everyone who engaged with my Blast content up to this point. I only ask that you don't stop doing so. DM's are open.

Statcast bat tracking -- Shohei Ohtani's moonshot HR over the Citi Field foul pole 80.3 mph bat speed ➡️ 115.9 mph exit velo 37° launch angle -- the only postseason HR hit 115 mph or harder with a launch angle that high in the Statcast era
