My point? There’s a reason that people are looking at our churches and saying, yea, that doesn’t look like Jesus.

When you think of faith as a war to be won, you will see people as enemies to be conquered. When you think of faith as a world to be explored, you will see people as neighbors to be loved.

God has been in every battle I’ve ever fought just not always on my side.

It is an act of strength to relinquish power when the time comes to do so. It is, in fact, a way of love. Holding on to that power is an unloving act of recklessness and fear.

Lots of people of faith out here protesting gun violence outside the NRA convention. Beautiful to see!

“Just preach the Gospel” 🧵 When people feel I’m being too political (which actually means they think I’m criticizing their personal politics) I get messages that say: “Just preach the Gospel!” To those folks I simply ask: What part of life should the Gospel not affect?

When Jeremiah and Ezekiel and Micah condemn those who say “peace, peace” when there is no peace, they are talking about people who see abuse and injustice in their communities and say “but look at all the good we’re doing.”

Our innocent children deserve to feel safe more than our insecure men deserve to feel powerful.

Don’t let anyone fool you by accusing you of being political. 14 children and 1 teacher killed is political. It reflects who we are as a society. Politics is about how we relate to one another. Doing nothing is political. Changing policy is political. It’s all political.

The hypocrisy over the past two years about “freedom and Liberty” with regards to MASKS has left me with very little ability to take anyone seriously who is now doing *thoughts and prayers * and “don’t get political” about school shootings

After the shooting in Vegas, I came out for raising the age of gun purchase, banning high capacity mags and bump stocks, universal background checks, and red flag laws. As a result the NRA turned on me. Best decision I made. They don’t want sanity, they want to raise $$
