@DrakeFantasy Great format. Terrible camera work. All they had to do was chill out, and have the camera show the batter swing like a normal baseball game. That’s it. Instead it felt like an adhd kid got hold of the camera, and was trying to film stupid angles.

Home Run Derby was electric again. New rules were desperately needed. Netflix production was beyond awful. Hooray baseball.

@Tyler_Polumbus Believe it or not. Many people just love the World Cup. It’s a spectacle. It’s like how people love to watch the Olympics. Doesn’t mean average person is following yearly Nationals for track and field. But, Olympics hit different. World Cup is like that. Of course I watch.

Watching some MAGA accounts cheer for Norway and Haaland is absolute cinema.🎦 🇳🇴 They seem to see a 6’5” blond Viking and assume he’s some kind of ideological soulmate. Meanwhile, Norway is one of the strongest examples of a successful social democracy in the world, and Haaland has publicly supported anti-racism campaigns throughout his career. It’s another reminder that people often project their own politics onto athletes instead of paying attention to who they actually are. And it’s ridiculous, funny and shocking a bit, but not much at the same time.

The reason replay review exists in every major sport now is because fans would get mad when offiicals got calls wrong. Now that replay review exists, fans get mad at officials for getting calls right. Makes ya think.

@OnyxOdds Renaldo has won basically everything other than a World Cup. Believe it or not there are games that happen outside the World Cup. And, he plays for Portugal. Not a historical powerhouse like Argentina.

Have you ever seen a European try to throw a ball? It’s hilarious. But they feel the exact same way when they see an American try to kick a soccer ball. Europeans have a soccer ball in their cribs, and play from time they can walk. Can’t establish culture overnight. 16-24 years.

Serious question: If today we banned every single male athlete in the U.S. from playing any sport beside soccer. How long would it take us to win a World Cup? 4 years? 8 might be generous.

@Peter_Bukowski Title IX funnels a huge amount of money into Women’s soccer. Combined with women’s teams sports in particular not being taken seriously elsewhere. Though it’s been improving slowly.
