@Murdochcrazy @MorpheusBeing @AustmusResearch @austmus Lophochroa leadbeateri has a few common names, including Major Mitchell's cockatoo, pink cockatoo, and Leadbeater's cockatoo. Many species have multiple common names (which can cause confusion!), while some species don't have a 'common name' at all!

@Mick2474 Thanks @Mick2474! We found that low coverage seemed to be the primary cause of these false homozygotes - i.e. too little coverage to detect both alleles. However, I certainly think other factors such as PCR duplicates and allele dropout exacerbated this issue.

@KyleMEwart Great talk, could the decreased homozygosity in the older samples be a problem with not being able to remove PCR duplicates from RAD data? Even if the coverage is the same the lower complexity extracts could cause this.
