BREAKING: Republican Senator Kennedy just blamed Trump the government shutdown! "The Democrats have offered to open up everything but ICE. Ted Cruz and I said, ‘OK let’s accept their offer…’ Senator Thune submitted that to President Trump. As is his right, [Trump] said ‘No! No deals with the Democrats.’ It would have worked. We could have had TSA paid by the end of the week but the President said ‘no deal.’” This is the DONALD TRUMP SHUTDOWN! Even Republicans are acknowledging it.

We cannot build systems that depend on people while failing to care for them. If the pandemic taught us anything, it is that we are deeply interconnected. The workers we rely on every day are not disposable. They are essential to the functioning of our society and to our shared humanity. When we remove care and compassion from our systems, the consequences eventually reach us all. What affects one directly affects all indirectly. If we want a just society, we must align our systems with dignity, fairness, and a genuine commitment to one another. #MLK #Nonviolence365 #BelovedCommunity

Obama agreed to $1.3 billion in sanctions relief for Iran as part of a deal that prevented both an Iranian nuke and a war. Trump withdrew from the deal, started a war that will likely result in Iran obtaining a nuke, and gave Iran $14 billion in sanctions relief.

🚨U.S. to allow Iran to get ~14 billion dollars (!!!) in oil revenue 🚨This is a huge financial concession to Iran by the U.S. 🚨It is the first time U.S. is buying Iranian oil since 1996 🚨It's all happening in the middle of a war against...Iran

AI data companies arrange things so that they will always have workers on call while preserving their freedom to drop them at a moment’s notice. The workers at the bottom of this supply chain exist in a state of extreme precarity and maximum competitive frenzy. nymag.visitlink.me/ccWz0L

Polls show more than half of Americans do not support U.S. military action in Iran, despite the Trump administration’s efforts. To discuss this more, Liz Landers spoke with Curt Mills, the executive director of The American Conservative magazine. He’s been outspoken against U.S. involvement in Iran. to.pbs.org/4lKF0fm

In 1993, a South African 🇿🇦 journalist named Kevin Carter won an award for capturing this photo while in Sudan 🇸🇩. The photo shows a vulture waiting for a starving baby to take its final breath. At the time, Sudan was facing a food crisis and Kevin Carter was celebrated for his iconic photo. But not everyone was happy with his work. While on the radio, a woman asked Kevin Carter what happened to the child after taking the photo. He responded that he didn’t know because he was in a rush to catch a flight. The woman said there were two vultures in the photo; one was just holding the camera. These words deeply affected Kevin Carter. He fell into a serious depression and took his own life in 1994.

For years, Microsoft had failed to fully explain how it protects sensitive information in the cloud as it hops from server to server. Given that and other unknowns, government reviewers couldn’t vouch for the tech’s security. It was approved anyway. propublica.org/article/micros…
