Bernie Sanders: “To give another 20K bombs to a country which committed genocide in Gaza happens to be among many other things, forget the moral issue, happens to be in violation of American law. You don’t sell arms to countries that violate international law and human rights. Clearly Israel has done that. Why anybody in their right minds would want to continue funding Israel is beyond me”

I get that my former boss Chuck Hagel is saying this from a place of criticism of the U.S. and Israel’s war. But I’m always wary at this type of warning, because it puts the onus on the victims: innocent people in the region on the receiving end of Israeli and American aggression being portrayed as a potential threat in the future because of what is happening to them. Sure, it is definitely a possibility that this turns some people to revenge or violence and it certainly will be used as a recruiting tool for terrorist organizations. But how about we focus on the fact that *despite* all they endure, the vast majority of people in the Middle East are *not* violent, do *not* choose violence, and just want to live their lives and raise their children in peace?

“We are manufacturing a whole new generation of terrorists in the Middle East,” former U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel tells me, saying the Trump administration's conduct of its war in Iran appears to him unprecedented.

Gomez: You said the only person who determine if it’s an imminent threat is the president. Do you stand by that statement? Gabbard: I do Gomez: Director Ratcliffe, do you agree with that? Ratcliffe: The president makes that decision Gomez: Why do you guys even have jobs?

Apartheid and genocide are just "loaded words taught in social justice seminars"? Hard to figure out how folks with these deft rhetorical skills are losing the debate in the party.

So @ThirdWayTweet is now trying to say that to criticize the Epstein class to to criticize Jews? Are you freaking kidding me?! You know what endangers Jews -- declaring that "Epstein class" is synonymous with "Jewish." I mean, what the actual fuck?

Dems should be for the working class, not the Epstein class. I plead guilty to coining the phrase.
Jon Favreau@jonfavs

In this op-ed, @ThirdWayTweet actually argues that "Epstein class" is an "age-old trope" pushed by "Jew-haters on the left."

President Trump said he would stop wars, not start them. But as the conflict with Iran widens, that promise is under strain. On this week's Deep Dish, @CIPolicy Executive Vice-President @mattduss joins Council President and CEO @londonvinjamuri to unpack what the widening conflict could mean for the future of US foreign policy. bit.ly/4uEd7JR

Have been polling versions of this question since September, this is the most dramatic it’s been. If Dems try to out-Israel Republicans, they lose because 10% of Dems say they won’t vote. If they say they’ll reduce support to Israel they win by a lot because Republicans flip

In a general election between a Republican and Democrat with identical views about prioritizing support for Israel, Republicans win by 4. Democrats who say they are willing to reduce support for Israel win by 11 - a 15-point jump.

It’s clear there’s no strategy in Iran. Even Tulsi Gabbard admitted we replaced one Khamenei with another—and the new one is even worse. Trump’s war of choice is making us less safe.

Given the horrific destruction that Israel’s extremist government has wrought on Gaza, Iran and Lebanon, the last thing in the world American taxpayers need to do right now is to provide 22,000 new bombs to the Netanyahu government. No more weapons to support an illegal war.

My new piece tries to make sense of how the fantasy Axis of [Something Bad] caught on in DC despite being very silly. China seems weak because it can’t defend the (imaginary) Axis, so the Blob is starting to think that open aggression could work if they were at the helm.
