for the first time in the last 8 years, I feel like Fortnite Competitive is actually at its worst
I started YouTube when I was in high school, started w/o doing competitve videos, just did it because I wanted to have fun on the game (casually) and eventually, I fell in love with competing as well
so I branched into competitive content around the start of Chapter 3.. and that's where I really began to grow a community - Chapter 4 hit and Fortnite Competitve felt like it was at its peak - I couldn't wait to queue each cup and make vids it was pure euphoria.. which lasted all the way through Chapter 5 as well
but for almost the entirety of Chapter 6, it has absolutely degraded in enjoyability, and the playerbase has begun to show that as well.. it's important to say that I feel I'm at the peak of my skill on the game - yet I'm enjoying competing the least I ever have
something about that spark just isn't there for me towards competitive anymore and rather towards creating videos that are far more enjoyable, as my viewership has shown me.. while I'm not fully aware of the exact direction I'll go with Fortnite content, what I do know is from now on, I'm choosing to pursue what it is I feel that spark for, whether I find it again for competitive at some point, or something entirely different

I really relate to this, and I think a lot of people in the community feel the same way — even if they haven’t fully admitted it yet. Fortnite Competitive used to be something I (and so many others) genuinely looked forward to. Especially during Chapter 4 and most of Chapter 5, the game felt alive — every cup felt like an event, and grinding the leaderboards was actually exciting. It wasn't just about the mechanics or the placements; it was about that feeling of being part of something that mattered.
But lately, it's hard to ignore how much the spark has faded. Whether it's the format changes, lack of innovation, poor communication from Epic, or just general burnout, Chapter 6 has definitely felt like a low point for the comp scene. Even top-tier players who are arguably at their mechanical peak are struggling to find that same enjoyment. And that says a lot.
It’s incredibly respectable that you’re being honest about where you’re at mentally with the game and content creation. So many creators try to push through even when the passion’s not there, and it shows. But choosing to shift focus towards what actually excites you — that’s how you keep things sustainable and fun long-term. Whether you circle back to comp one day or head in a completely new direction, your audience will follow because they connect with you, not just the format you play.
Looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you. Respect for keeping it real and putting enjoyment first — that’s how the best content is made anyway.
