Hello...😶 I have been playing Rust for over six years, and on May 1st my account was permanently banned. Before this, I had never received any bans from Easy Anti-Cheat or any other anti-cheat system. (neither vanguard, nor faceit, nor call of duty) The main issue for me is that I still do not understand why I was banned. I submitted appeals,I never received an answer to them, which makes the situation very confusing for me🫤 @Alistair_McF I would like to ask if my case could be reviewed again. I am not trying to argue or cause problems — I simply want to understand what happened and whether there may have been a mistake. STEAMID: 76561198440414268 I also wanted to ask if I am allowed to buy a new Steam/Rust account and start playing again, or if I need to wait 8 months because of this ban. Another thing I would like to mention is that there have recently been many discussions in the Rust community about large ban waves.(steamcommunity.com/app/252490/dis… -most threads in Russian language) Because of this, I started wondering if older Steam accounts that may have been stolen or compromised in the past could sometimes be incorrectly flagged or linked to suspicious activity. My account was once hijacked when I was a child, and then recovered. This is a situation from a few years ago. After six years of playing without any previous bans or issues, this situation is honestly very difficult for me to understand.

@TeddyEAC Get your asses to work, because my appeal has been on hold for 7 days now and it doesn't look like it will be reviewed at all. Zero contact, just like with @FcpnchStds Do I really have to wait 8 months just to play, or can I buy an account right now? Your logs would show that I didn't have anything running that interfered with the Rust process. I need an answer ASAP—I really miss Rust; a 7-day break is just too long

@Alistair_McF @KyzoVid @playrust My Steam account and email were compromised. The attacker managed to bypass Steam Guard, use cheats on my account, and get me game banned on Rust.

But in a case like this, does it really make sense for a banned user to have to wait 8 months? When I was younger, my Steam account was hacked somehow, and the scammers even managed to bypass Steam Guard. (it was removed) Now, after six years of playing Rust, I’ve been banned as well, without even knowing the reason.(so i wrote to legal@facepunch for Verification) I still haven’t received any response from EAC. It seems to me that this system isn't working well. Scans processes and applications that are not related to Facepunch. So if you have any scripts running in the background—you could get banned.

People get hijacked for falling victim to phishing scams. 2Auth is very secure, but it's only as secure as the person. Even if an attacker had your user name and password, they should still not be able to access your account. It's why 2auth exists. We can't just unban people because they claim to have gotten hacked.

@KyzoVid @playrust Reviewed, and the reasoning was communicated to the account holder via the support team. The ban was placed by ourselves and not by EAC, nor by any other third party. Hijacked accounts are common, and it's the account holders responsibility to ensure their account is secure.

The exact same thing happened to me after a 1.5-hour session in RUST. Just check how many people are writing about this in the RUST discussions on Steam. I sent an official inquiry to legal@facepunch requesting a review of my case (specifically regarding the automated decision), as I am certain that I did not violate the RUST Terms of Service. I love your game, man!!!
