One of the most important concepts in trading: the difference between acceptance and rejection after a breakout. On the left side, price breaks above a balanced range and shows strong follow-through. This is a true breakout. Buyers stay in control, price holds above the previous range, and the market becomes imbalanced. When this happens, price is likely to continue moving higher as it seeks a new area of balance. This is where momentum traders thrive, because the move is supported by conviction and participation. On the right side, price breaks out of the range but fails to continue. Instead of holding above the level, it quickly reverses back into the range. This is a false breakout or rejection. It signals a lack of commitment from buyers and often traps breakout traders. Once back inside the range, price typically rotates to the opposite side, offering opportunities in the other direction. The key takeaway is simple: the breakout itself is not enough. What matters most is the behavior after the breakout. Strong follow-through indicates acceptance and continuation, while failure to hold signals rejection and potential reversal. If price makes a P shape profile at the balanced range high then immediately comes back into the range then it buyers absorption and price reversed and if the buyers are strong above balanced range and holding price is a strong sign of breakout / imbalanced move
