LADOT Bike Program

Today, we launch our @ladotlivable website and social media, bringing eight @LADOTofficial programs, from Active Transportation to People St, into one great online hub. From now on, find us at ladotlivablestreets.org and follow us there!

The remaining 1.6 miles between the Ave 60 entrance & the Ave 43 entrance (on Mosher Ave north of Ave 43) will be reopened by mid-Sept. Monterey Rd can be used to access and exit the path at Ave 60. Questions? Contact ladot.active@lacity.org.

The damaged portion of the bike path is between the Ave 60 entrance (on Ave 60 west of Monterey Rd) & the York/Marmion entrance (on Marmion Way south of York Blvd). This 1/2-mile segment will remain closed until repairs are complete.

In addition to LADOT, other agencies, as well as our maintenance contractor, have access to the gates & may close them for one reason or another (including inclement weather). We let our maintenance contractor know when this happens so they can open the gates back up.

Nothing like riding in 90 degree heatsmog ™️ to find that the entrance to the Baum ped/bike bridge is locked after using it less than 5 hours ago...dumping us off into deadly intersection without a ped crossing. Help? @LADOTofficial @LACoPublicWorks @AVSafeStreets

There are many things to consider when designing PBLs, including the presence of curbside parking, whether there is sufficient width for a buffer, and pavement conditions. PBLs may also require special design at intersections where they intersect with turning vehicles. 2/2

Thanks for all the enthusiasm in response to the "Wave" demonstration on Venice Blvd yesterday! We agree that people on bikes often feel very uncomfortable riding in the street, which is why we aim to install protected bike lanes where we can. 1/2

@zbeat @CicLAvia @LADOTofficial Today we were able to upgrade an existing lane & buffer, which @LADOTBikeProg is evaluating for potential perm. upgrade. Many streets require reallocating space from vehicle lanes to make space for PBLs. Reach out if there's a street or lane near you you'd like to see upgraded.
