Reminder that our LAFD FIre Chief will speak at CERT meeting tonight FS27 at 7pm, followed by Chief Castro who will talk about Fire Patrol.

Fire Station 27 is at 1327 Cole Ave, near the intersection of Sunset and Cahuenga in Hollywood. Please do not call station.

LAFD Fire Chief Cummings will speak at FS 27 to CERT members and friends on February 7 at 7pm. Bring your questions to our top firefighter.

The CERT activity released two fire fighters who answered emergency calls instead.

FS27 for the first time had CERT take the station plug-buggy (truck) to pick up equipment after a fire and exchange air bottles.

The first group of LAFD CERT call-out members just finished driver training courtesy of the LA City Fire Department.

More details will be released as we unroll a program that gives more responsibilities to CERT teams. Search and Rescue training is first.

CERT in Battalion 5 will be instructed by the LAFD in Search and Rescue for future lost hikers in Griffith Park. It is a new pilot program.

Due to budget cuts, big changes are coming to the LAFD. This means fewer fire stations and engine companies to serve the city.

We worked with the LAFD to help "Fill the Boot" for the MDA(Muscular Distrophy Assoc.) and "Jerry's kids."

What is the role of CERT with the continuing budget cuts at the LA Fire Dept? The department is managing the routine calls for now.

Otherwise, when power lines are down, the fire department has to be there That isn't good use of the LAFD since they can't respond to calls.

During the heavy rains on Sunday, CERT teams were out in the wet and cold watching over fallen electrical lines to keep everyone away.
