Understanding Jeff Landry’s Economic Boom. A boom funded by federal tax dollars, offering no real jobs, tax exempt, expropriating land, and transferring wealth out of Louisiana may be a boom for someone. It is not a boom for Louisiana. Landry’s own LED representative admitted under questioning that 70 to 75% of that $100 billion either is CCS or has a CCS component. Here is what Louisiana voters need to understand. If the 45Q federal tax credits disappeared tomorrow and the CCS industry collapsed overnight Louisiana would lose nothing. No jobs. No tax revenue. No royalties. No community benefit of any kind. Data centers are no different. Tax exempt. Few permanent jobs. Consuming rural water supplies. Driving utility rates up. Nothing left behind but liability. This is nothing like an oil and gas bust which devastates real Louisiana families. CCS and data centers pay nothing in and take everything out. The only people who benefit are corporations collecting credits, foreign investors harvesting profits, law firms fighting landowners in court, lobbyists pushing the legislation, and politicians collecting contributions while in office and board seats after they leave. Letlow and Cassidy sent signed letters of support to help recruit Japanese investors into a CCS project collecting those same federal tax credits. Paid for by American taxpayers. Profits leaving Louisiana for 20 years. That is not a boom. It is a transfer of wealth dressed up as progress. Vote Fleming. June 27.
