This article in @theadvocatebr describes a trial in New Orleans with testimony from a “slammer” – a person who deliberately drove his car into 18-wheelers to collect big insurance payouts. 𝗜𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀: 🦈 “If you paid the slammers directly, you could 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗴𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀.” 🦈 “I started slamming. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: $𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 with an 18-wheeler, $500 for regular staged accidents.” 💥 The slammer said he, “was 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 by another accused slammer who also has pleaded guilty in the sprawling federal probe dubbed “Operation Sideswipe.” 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱: Three or four passengers to a car, one person would check their driver’s licenses and proof of insurance to ensure they could cash in. Riding off in an ambulance was to be avoided on the advice of the lawyers. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: buff.ly/buGyGfD
