Sergeant I Shiou Deng EOW: June 23, 2025

This is a sad day for our city. The men and women of LAPD put their lives on the line for Angelenos each and every day. Sgt. Deng served L.A. for more than 25 years. This morning, I met with officers at the hospital who described him as caring and selfless. His last act was one of service — putting the safety and wellbeing of others above all else. Flags above city buildings will be lowered to half-staff in his honor. My thoughts are with Sgt. Deng's family during this devastating time.

After a long week in Los Angeles, this was just the kind of pick me up we needed for our #LAPD officers. Thank you to @girlscouts of Corona who were so thoughtful and kind. We appreciate this act of kindness more than you can know.

At Pacoima Charter elementary, #LAPD officers from @LAPDOutreach teach summer safety to first grade students while building trust.

#LAPD @LAPDOutreach and @LAPDOlympic taking part in a Community clean up with parents and youth from Bresee Center. Actions like this reminds us all, that we must work together to maintain our beautiful city. Teamwork and community collaboration!

Descanso Gardens is an absolutely beautiful Southern California treasure. We got our steps in during the El Cariso Regional Senior Walk Descanso Gardens Public Safety Walk. We are helping our seniors stay safe by discussing crime prevention tips. #LAPD

Over the weekend, we were hanging out with the community and @YMCALA for their Annual “A Day of Play for LA” event. Thank you to all who were involved in the planning and production of the event, and to those in our communities who attended. We had a great time! #LAPD
