As the Fourth of July approaches, law enforcement agencies are stepping up efforts to crack down on illegal fireworks across Southern California. The LASD says undercover sting operations have led to the seizure of more than 3,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and the arrest of at least 49 people in the past two weeks. Illegal fireworks pose a serious wildfire risk and have already been linked to devastating injuries and fires throughout California. Officials are reminding the public that selling illegal fireworks can carry fines of up to $5,000 in Los Angeles County. Full story link: linktr.ee/protectiveleag…

A driver accused of speeding at more than 112 mph and killing LAPD Sgt. Shiou Deng and motorist Jesus Garcia on the 405 Freeway has been charged with two counts of murder. Prosecutors say Mario Bickham had a lengthy history of excessive speeding, including a citation for driving more than 105 mph just one month before the deadly crash. “Thirty-three cars, from the time he turns on his lights to the time that Mr. Bickham shows up, safely pass around Sgt. Deng and Mr. Garcia,” DA Nathan Hochman stated. Authorities allege Sgt. Deng had positioned his patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated to protect the crash scene when Bickham slammed into the victims. If convicted, Bickham faces life in prison. These images are real. The bullet holes in the patrol vehicle and the officer’s ballistic vest are real. The facts are our officers are encountering suspects that are more heavily armed than last year--which was higher than the year before. These officers took fire from a suspect who caused a vehicle pursuit. That suspect was willing to kill police officers to avoid arrest. This is the risk our officers take on every single day. By the grace of God, yesterday was a good day for the LAPD. Our officer is safe and the suspect is in custody. But as we know all too well, that is not how the story ends every time. Is Raman Up for the Job? LA Times reported on last night’s debate… Nithya Raman appeared overwhelmed by the pressure of the debate stage. Raman repeatedly went over time, struggled with direct questions, and failed to project confidence in key moments. For a candidate trying to convince Los Angeles she is ready to lead the city, the performance left many unconvinced. Raman tried to position herself as an alternative to Bass, but instead raised more questions about whether she is ready for the job. In the end, experience showed. To think, just a few days ago the People's Budget mastermind Melina Abdullah was tossing miniature toy pigs over a fence at our office and now she will present her confirmation bias-riddled sham of a defund the police budget to the city council—well, it just warms our hearts. Cue the circus music, pop some popcorn and get ready to be entertained with some budget comedy. Keep it classy Melina

Ignoring Venice residents’ pleas for help, Councilmember Nithya Raman voted to prevent a dangerous encampment from being taken down. She also ignored the work that Councilmember Park did, in partnership with residents, to ensure that all camp occupants were offered shelter and services. Raman makes it clear that the safety of our schools, our parks, and our neighborhoods comes second to her political agenda. Full video link: linktr.ee/protectiveleag…

At 90 years old, Marlene “Mrs. Willis” (Yes, Bruce’s mom) has quietly become a cornerstone of the LAPD’s West LA station, dedicating more than two decades of volunteer service to supporting officers and staff. Known for her warmth and consistency, she spends several days each week reviewing reports, assisting with administrative work, and offering something just as valuable: genuine care for those returning from difficult calls. Despite being Bruce Willis's mother, she never draws attention to it, instead choosing to focus entirely on serving what she calls her second family: the LAPD.
