.@jackquartet brings Georg Friedrich Haas’ visionary String Quartet No. 3 to @calartsredcat as part of the LA Phil’s Body and Sound: Music in Five Senses festival. Designed to be performed in absolute darkness, Haas’ work tests musicians’ ability to communicate solely through the sound of their instruments while inviting audiences to listen in a uniquely physical and, at times, disorienting way. This one-night-only blackout performance by the composer’s foremost interpreters takes place on April 9 at REDCAT. Tickets available at laphil.com. There will be a stand-by line if the show is sold-out. Co-produced by LA Phil Insight and @liquidmusicseries Co-presented by @calartsredcat

In 2019, Tom Hooten—LA Phil's principal trumpet and M. David and Diane Paul Chair—debuted at #1 on the iTunes classical chart with his crowd-funded, self-produced recording of John William's Trumpet Concerto. How did he do it? Read and listen to Hooten's conversation with KUSC's Brian Lauritzen to find out! Hooten performs the concerto with conductor Anna Handler and the LA Phil on March 13, 14, and 16 at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Get tickets at laphil.com and join us! kusc.org/articles/hoote…

.@GustavoDudamel captures the serenity of Beethoven's "Pastoral" Symphony before steering the orchestra into the treacherous depths of Thomas Adès’ “Inferno”—the fiery first movement of the work that won the LA Phil a Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance. Within minutes of hearing "Dante," "The Guardian" wrote that “You can feel the lightning bolt of [Adès’] virtuosity, the sense of pure enjoyment as he uses every orchestral resource to create a battery of exhilarating sound from a 75-strong orchestra.” Join us for a thrilling adventure if you dare! “Gabriela Ortiz’s music speaks to both the body and the spirit, full of visceral primeval rhythms and mysterious, soulful sound-worlds,” says @GustavoDudamel. From February 26 to March 1, he conducts Ortiz's “Revolución diamantina,” a powerful ballet score inspired by Mexico’s 2019 “Glitter Revolution,” the feminist uprising around the country’s epidemic of violence against women. Experience live at Walt Disney Concert Hall as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and performers from Brazilian dance company Grupo Corpo bring this spectacular piece to life! Praising the pianist @YefimBronfman's expertise on the Schumann's Arabeske, the "Los Angeles Times" said that the masterwork “[flies] by as if on gossamer wings, Bronfman’s brawny fingers seeming somehow to barely brush the keys, as though there were nothing to it.” Bronfman returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 11 to make magic happen right before our eyes! Get tickets at laphil.com to be here to witness it. latimes.com/entertainment/…
