Something that the AI industry hasn't understood yet (because most people in AI ignore the law): From a legal perspective, general-purpose AI systems (like ChatGPT) don't make sense, as mandatory guardrails and product liability claims cannot be properly allocated. A product that can tell bed stories for kids and ALSO create erotica-style engagement with adults will never be adequately regulated, as the people affected and the risks are different, and the rules for each use case should be different. In non-AI products, erotica and toys are never coupled in the same device. It makes no sense and in many cases it would be illegal. In AI products (like AI systems) they should probably be separated as well. Specialized AI systems might be powered by general-purpose AI models (like LLMs), but the fine-tuning, mandatory guardrails, and liability rules of each system should be compatible with the type of risks and people affected. I don't see a future where AI is properly regulated and general-purpose AI systems exist. Hopefully most countries will realize that soon.

I put together 15 principles of what I think it means to be a great designer. I wanted to summarize 30 years of hard earned lessons and share them with you. Text version in the comments.

Electrical engineer explains why keeping your laptop plugged in is actually better for the battery than constantly charging it. But I always thought it was the other way around.🤔

Sam Altman has a long history of lying to, manipulating, and abusing people--from his own sister (@anniealtman108) to his employees at OpenAI. Here's a short thread with some rather shocking examples. The evidence is in, and it shows a clear pattern of bad behavior.

@m_strba Zero! But I'm happy with that because I'm so talented I don't need AI.

@Ishanzaad We also use Apple Motion 5. You can create some amazing motion graphics with it.

 service for YouTube (and other media) Creators? There is a reference to ‘Apple Creator Studio’ in a iOS beta. Is it a new Apple Service - as hinted by this new job vacancy for a ‘Pro Apps business lead’ in new Apple’s ‘services initiative team’? jobs.apple.com/en-us/details/…

Some video editors have to do more than the editing. That doesn’t mean these extra tasks are editing. This list is not editing. Why not come up with a name for all these actions plus editing? Editing is rewarding. Combining it with other tasks can be rewarding too.
Patrik Key@Patrik_Key

"You’re only editing videos.” “Being a video editor is easy.” Right. Because apparently editing means: • Copywriting • Storyboarding • Designing • Planning • Sound design • Understanding psychology Bro I can keep going… But yeah, editing is easy.

@sai_edaha You'll find pros using FCP while others Avid Media Composer and others Premiere Pro. At the end of the day they are tools, the art of editing is something that goes beyond the tools. Choose what you like most :-) We use it and even develop plugins for it. It's a real fan!

@VFXCentral You're correct, even the most polished AI outputs lack of depth and originality. Yes, I admit a few are visually very captivating but that's exactly the aim of the diffusion models: Stitch together the best humans have created then add a surreal glow & intricacy of details = awe!

I have a theory about AI as a form of entertainment. I don’t think fully AI generated movies will ever take off. Why? Because the younger generations don’t care or even like AI. And they are the next consumers. They’re already sick of it. They want something authentic. Something real. Ai still feels very uncanny to watch. Like a psychopath pretending to have normal human feelings. I keep being told “yea but this is the worse it will ever be”. But I am still not sold on it being a form of entertainment. It’s just another tool. I have not seen anything yet that makes me feel connected. Just kinda cool looking random montages. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? #movies #art #ai
